Some big fish (31)went in today average weight 7.19 lb, this one is a smaller one of ONLY 6.5 lb ish.
Please return them carefully, and remember they don’t count towards your weekly or yearly totals. You might also want to increase your leader/tippet strength.
Paul and his grandson Daniel went fishing on Sunday 9th June. Daniel, aged only 9yrs old was keen, confident and an able fisherman under the tutelage of his grandfather Paul.
This was his lovely trophy after a few frustrating trout came off! He skillfully tired out the fish for grandpa to finally net it. Lovely to see the enthusiasm of potentially the next generational fly fishers! The trout weighed 2lbs 4oz; so certainly one to remember.
“Mixed emotions” was Graham’s reply to me when I asked of how many had he caught when looking at his bulging net bag and then added “there’s only TWO in there including the tagged one”. He was over the moon with catching such a big and beautiful fish let alone the prize bottle of whisky that goes with it but said if he could have removed the deep hook safely then he would have preferred to release it. After a morning’s work with the maintenance team, he fished and caught about four feet down, from the South bank toward the East end, Friday afternoon (24th), on a home-made fly by Lynne Wee – a green/black Nemesis – and weighing in at a fine 7lbs 2oz. Well done to him.
